Magic Bloodline - Ethereal

The newer generations of wolves on Starfall have begun being mixed with interesting genetics, some seemingly blessed with "mutations" of sorts that can change their appearance and be passed down to their own younf in the future. Please be mindful when joining a non-bred-on-site wolf. All characteristics following these mutations will be able to be used for maned wolves and African wild dogs as well.

Mutations do not grant magic, and are only able to be joined or achieved through claiming a pup in a litter.

Albinism / Albino

The first mutation brought onto the site, the first Albino being Larentia. From her, the albino mutation has widely stemmed out and even created the first Leucistic wolf on site, another mutation.

Albino wolves have pink skin, including on their paws, noses, and around their eyes. Their fur is always a snowy white, untouched by any markings. Their skin is extremely sensitive to sunlight, as are their hueless (appearing red or pink) eyes. Being out in direct sunlight can cause severe burns and even blindness in the character, please play wisely with this in mind.

If they possess a Bloodline that alters their appearance, specifically an animal hybrid, their bloodline will also be an albino creature. Please do your research before joining.

Maned wolves / African wild dogs would be entirely white.

Melanism / Melanistic

Another mutation brought to Starfall, the first being Crowe. From him stemmed more. Everything about them is dark, their skin is black, their fur, and even their eyes are almost black. They do not have color to them or markings of any sort besides the black coloring.

If they possess a Bloodline that alters their appearance, specifically an animal hybrid, their bloodline will also be Melanistic. Please do your research before joining.

Maned wolves / African wild dogs would be entirely black.

*This is not for all black wolves*

Leucisum / Leucistic

Born originally from a mutation in a half albino pup, Dwyn, and now offered as a mutation to be joined. Leucistic wolves can bare no markings, and are snow white in appearance. Their skin is pale, but they do not have the same chance of skin issues as the albino mutation.

Their eyes are light in color.

If they possess a Bloodline that alters their appearance, specifcally an animal hybrid, their bloodline will also be Leucistic. Please do your research before joining.

Maned wolves / African wild dogs would be entirely white, but bare black markings lightly as gray.

*This is not for all white wolves*

Spotting

A brand new mutation to Starfall, where a wolf possesses a normal coloring but is spotted in another. The other coloring is usually secondary coloring. This spotting takes over most if not their entire pelt and has no pattern or abnormality to its shape. Only solid spots, sitting nestled in the fur. They usually do not possess any other markings.

This mutation does not affect a Bloodline, and is possible with maned and african wild dogs.

Piebald

Another new mutation, having a base coat that is normally split with a solid coloring. They're often almost resembling marble, with their strange patterns that can either be symmetrical or not. No two are identical, but might share characteristics depending on their linage.

This mutation does not affect a Bloodline, and is possible with maned and african wild dogs.

Patches

Often confused for piebald, and close to, this mutation gives patches of a solid color to splatter the wolf it affects. These splatters have no pattern usually, and don't take up as much space as the piebald mutation. Like the other mutations, the wolf will have a primary coloring under the patches, and the patches themselves would be a secondary coloring.

This mutation does not affect a Bloodline, and is possible with maned and african wild dogs.

Blanket with Speckling

Almost like a ripple on the hips and rump, showing a secondary color through the main pelt in only one area. It's unlike the other mutations in presenting itself this way, and has speckling of the main color of its body throughout the "blanket".

This mutation does not affect a Bloodline, and is possible with maned and african wild dogs.

Overuse of Bloodline

Perhaps the most unique of the mutations found so far, Bloodline overuse is a strange occurrence where a specific Bloodline overtakes the body at birth, giving either a beautiful or ghastly look.

The mutation is only found in Colupus, Aves, Reptillia, Lamprydae, Flora, Dracarae and Voodoo.

This mutation IS affected by Bloodlines, and is possible with maned and african wild dogs.

Reproduction
Offspring with non-Mutated parents have a 50% chance of having a mutated offspring.
Offspring of a Mutated parent possess a chance of passing on the mutations.

A pairing of a mutated wolf x regular wolf would result in a 30% chance of carrying over the mutation to offspring, and a 30% chance of obtaining another mutation.
A pairing of a mutated wolf x mutated wolf would result in a 50% chance of either bloodline for the offspring, a 100% guarantee of a mutated litter.

Hybrid Variations

Mutations do not have hybrids.
